Domaine scientifique principal : Physique
 
Mes activités de recherche s’articulent autour des trois projets de recherche suivants :
 
- Modélisation par des approches liées à la théorie de la fonctionnelle de la densité (DFT) de la structure atomique et électronique de matériaux fonctionnels nanostructurés pour la micro et l’optoélectronique. C’est un projet qui est mené en collaboration avec le Professeur Christian Dufour (laboratoire CIMAP de Caen, Centre de Recherche sur les Ions, les Matériaux et la Photonique) et dans le cadre de ce projet, j’ai coencadré Mme Ngoc Bich Nguyen qui a obtenu le titre de Docteur le 5 février 2010.
 
- Étude du couplage magnétoélectrique dans le composé YMnO3 par des calculs de type DFT. Dans le cadre de ce projet, j’ai coencadré avec Marie Bernadette Lepetit (laboratoire CRISMAT) M. Julien Varignon qui était alors en stage (4 mois) de master M2.
 
- Étude de composés supraconducteurs à haute température critique par des approches ab inito post Hartree Fock. Ce projet est mené en collaboration avec Marie Bernadette Lepetit (laboratoire CRISMAT) ainsi qu’avec le Professeur Amit Keren (Département de Physique de l’Institut de Technologie d’Israël).

Activités

Mon activité de recherche repose principalement sûr l’étude et la caractérisation des structures cristallines de nouveaux composés par diffraction des rayons X et des neutrons sur des échantillons de poudre. Cela comprend la résolution ab-initio par les méthodes directes, charge flipping, ou les méthodes dans l’espace direct (monté carlo, recuit simulé, etc.) et l’affinement des structures par la méthode de Rietveld. Cela comprend également l’étude des réactions et des transitions structurales en fonction de la température par diffraction des rayons X. Ces compétences m’ont amené à travailler sur différents types de composés inorganiques, organiques ou hybrides et à développer plusieurs collaborations internes et externes au laboratoire.

Je suis également PCR (Personne Compétente en Radioprotection) au Laboratoire CRISMAT.

Etre capable d’élaborer des matériaux originaux, de les caractériser à l’aide d’outils avancés et de comprendre leurs relations structures/microstructures/propriétés électroniques sont les compétences que nous avons voulu réunir au sein d’une même équipe. Au 1er janvier 2015, l’équipe HOPE compte 6 chercheurs CNRS (3 CR, 3 DR), 8 enseignants chercheurs (6 MCF, 2 PR) ainsi que 1 professeur émérite, 1 post-doctorant et 10 doctorants, soit 26 personnes hors stagiaires. Les personnels de l’équipe sont localisés, en majorité, dans les anciens bâtiments de recherches de l’ENSICAEN et, pour partie, dans les locaux du CNRT.

L’équipe HOPE s’organise autour des diverses activités scientifiques qui ont motivées sa création, à savoir, l’élaboration de matériaux nouveaux oxydes et la caractérisation avancée des propriétés de transport dans des matériaux fonctionnels (poudres, céramiques frittées et films minces). Une des spécificités de l’équipe réside dans la maîtrise de différentes voies d’élaboration : solide-solide, chimie douce, synthèse hydrothermale, micro-onde, électrodéposition, dépôts par ablation laser pulsé et pulvérisation cathodique. Les domaines de compétences de l’équipe permettent à la fois la synthèse de nouvelles phases et celle de matériaux fonctionnels à architecture contrôlée. L’autre spécificité de l’équipe réside dans la mise en place de techniques avancée tant du point de vue de la caractérisation structurale (diffraction des rayons X et des électrons) que de celui de la mise en forme (lithographie et gravure) ou de la caractérisation des propriétés physiques (transport électronique dans des systèmes non-conventionnels). Ces compétences sont à l’origine de nombreuses collaborations académiques, pour un approfondissement de nos connaissances fondamentales, et industrielles pour une mise en œuvre des propriétés de nos matériaux.


- Chimie exploratoire

Cette thématique prospective vise à développer des approches originales de synthèses permettant l’obtention de phases et/ou d’architectures nouvelles (hétérostructures, oxydes et hybrides) susceptibles de posséder de nouvelles fonctionnalités.

- Diélectriques, ferroélectriques et photoluminescents

Cette thématique vise (i) à développer des approches d’assemblage de briques ou de couches élémentaires fonctionnalisées au sein de matériaux nouveaux (films et massifs) ; (ii) à optimiser les propriétés de matériaux par dopage.

-Matériaux à propriétés électroniques non conventionnelles

Cette thématique vise à comprendre et exploiter les propriétés électroniques remarquables (supraconductivité, ondes de charge et conduction 2D) observées dans certains matériaux oxydes et métalliques ; sous forme de cristaux, films et hétérostructures.
